Introduction

Hey guys, my name is Chris Bugnacki, and  I’m a lover of Jesus Christ, a lover of His word, and I’m excited to be able to take part in posting these devotionals for you guys! May the Holy Spirit speak through me in my mission to convey a message that is straight from the heart of God and may you be challenged and encouraged to grow in your relationship with the Lord.

Verse of the Day

Revelation 2:1-5

“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lamp stands. I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lamp stand from its place.

Devotional

What Jesus is basically saying to the church in Ephesus is that, “you are doing these great things yet you have forgotten your First Love, Me!”. It is so possible to run around doing all these great things but forget why we do what we do. By the fact that Jesus separates remembering our First Love, and working hard is huge, because it means that we can be serving without having the Lord on our minds and making him the reason we serve. This is a dangerous place to be because it only becomes a job for us. We cannot forget Our First Love, for as a result of this dangerous forgetfulness we can burn out if our serving isn’t from an overflow of our love for Him.

Personal Reflection

This verse has been very near to my hear this past year.  I have been meditating on it as I have been filling out applications and figuring out what the Lord has for me this upcoming year now that I have graduated High School.  I really have taken it to heart and tried to put it into action in my own life because in all the craziness of this past year, I really want to to keep the Lord as my First Love. So… I wanted to share this with all of you and I hope it is something you can connect with as well.

Questions To Ask Yourself

What things can divert your attention away from Jesus?

What changes can you make to live a life that is fully attentive to Jesus?

Closing Prayer

Jesus, let our love for you overflow into every aspect of our lives. Amen.

In Christ,

Chris Bugnacki
